Hey there!
We just wanted to reach out to let you know that there is an impending strike from the local dockworkers’ union here in BC. If it goes through, and we expect it will, there will be delays on any and all goods moving through the Pacific-side ports nationwide.
The good news is we do not expect the delays to impact us, and therefore you, in any significant way. Thanks to some good planning and a lot of hard work, we’ve been able to get the bulk of our stock in ahead of time, with the last third or so expected to arrive no later than Mid-August. So even with the delays, we’re still completely on schedule.
This is an on-going situation, and we’re all hoping that the union and the port authorities will be able to negotiate in good faith and in good time. In the meantime, if you’re working with any other companies that bring in stock over the Pacific (which is to say most of them), we encourage you to keep yourself up to date on the situation. This article is a great place to start.
Transparency and openness are what we’re all about here at Starlight, so we wanted to let you know as soon as we did. There may be some impending challenges on the horizon, but we’re committed to giving you the same high-quality service you’ve come to expect and want to thank you for your continued patience and support as we all navigate this together.
As always, you are welcome to reach out to us at any time if you have any concerns or would like a more personal update. And we’re looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks for the summer trade show in Toronto this August!
Until then, please stay safe, and have a happy long weekend!
